Alex R. Farrell Launches Campaign for State Senate with Gov. Phil Scott, Former Gov. Jim Douglas, & Rep. Kurt Wright at Capacity Event in Burlington
Enthusiastic supporters help kick-off run at Halvorson’s and in the Essex Memorial Day parade
BURLINGTON, VT – Alex R. Farrell formally launched his state Senate campaign over the long Memorial Day holiday, starting with a rousing kick-off event in Burlington before an energized, to a capacity crowd of supporters at Halvorson’s on Church Street. Gov. Scott was on hand Thursday night to introduce Farrell and endorse his candidacy. Former Gov. Jim Douglas also spoke and gave Farrell his backing, as did Burlington Council President and state Rep. Kurt Wright, who emceed the event. Farrell kept up the pace over the holiday weekend, including marching with his campaign team and supporters in the Essex Memorial Day Parade.
“It was great to join Alex as he launched his campaign for state Senate,” said Gov. Scott. “Alex will be a strong voice in Montpelier as we work to grow the economy and make Vermont more affordable.”
“Alex represents a new generation of practical, common-sense Vermonters that is urgently needed in public service in Montpelier,” said Douglas, who noted that he was first elected to the state legislature just out of college in 1972 as part of a group of young reps who worked across party lines. “Chittenden County families, taxpayers, and entrepreneurs need a leader in the Senate, and Alex Farrell is just what the doctor ordered.”
Rep. Wright noted Alex’s deep roots in Chittenden County and his commitment to public service: “Alex is committed to working responsibly for our communities in Montpelier to help improve the lives of all Chittenden County families so that our young people can choose to stay in Vermont. Alex has the knowledge, temperament, and common-sense Republican ideas and philosophy to make a real difference for Chittenden County families, taxpayers, and businesses.”
“I am honored to have Gov. Scott’s endorsement as I begin my campaign to bring sensible leadership and balance to Chittenden County’s representation in the Senate and break up the all-Progressive/Democratic bloc,” said Farrell. “Gov. Scott is working hard to prevent tax hikes, budget and invest in our state responsibly, and make Vermont more affordable for all of us. It’s outrageous that Gov. Scott receives no support from our bloc of state senators, who deny Vermont even has an affordability crisis, as he fights for Chittenden County families, taxpayers, and businesses. That will change when I am elected in November.”
Alex Farrell for State Senate Campaign Treasurer Tim Halvorson and Campaign Manager Jeffrey Bartley also addressed Thursday night’s standing-room-only event. Over the last 10 days, the Farrell for Senate campaign hired its first full-time campaign staffer, released its first digital ad and first radio ad, which is presently on air and can be viewed at www.AlexFarrell.org or on the campaign YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/1_vvYU2qD7s.
